The Caribbean

Off-grid stays. Built by local crews.

My mother is Trinidadian. The Caribbean isn't a market I studied. It's family.

At Hammond Hill we built Canada's first tiny home village, the first solar-powered Jupe Pods in the country and yurts. It all runs on off-grid solar, rainwater and greywater recirculation year-round. We went from bare land to open in four months, then rebuilt in four more after a derecho took down 5,000 trees.

That's what I bring to the islands. Small, green places to stay that make their own power and water, built by local people I train to build and run them. Most islands pay some of the highest power prices anywhere, so every kilowatt you make yourself is money you keep.

I've done this outside Canada before. I co-developed and taught Daydream to Reality with Dr. Bruce Firestone, a one-week course in Mérida, Mexico, on finding, financing and building a getaway that pays for itself.

I teach in English and understand some French and Spanish. On the French and Spanish-speaking islands I work with a local co-facilitator.

Build

Alternative accommodations

Tiny homes, cabins, pods, yurt platforms and glamping sites, adapted for heat, salt air and storms. Concept, site plan and build.

Power & water

Off-grid systems

Solar and battery, rainwater capture and storage, greywater recirculation and composting, with a maintenance plan your staff can run.

Train

Build it with locals

Hands-on training for local crews to build and maintain it all. Train-the-trainer and course licences for colleges and national training programs.

Operate

Concept to open

Advice for owners, investors and developers from someone who designed, built and runs an eco-resort: operations, guest experience, getting it open.

Storm-ready by default

Built to take a storm

Every design and every course includes tie-downs, openings, the building envelope and water storage. Rainwater and solar also mean you keep running when the grid goes down.
